3 Things To Know About The Entrance Exam

The thought of taking an entrance exam for high school acceptance can feel daunting, but we can assure you this test is nothing to be concerned about – as long as you prepare wisely! Here are three things you should know going into the entrance exam.

1. What to bring: Along with a confident attitude, students should arrive prepared at the test site with at least two sharpened pencils and a calculator.

2. How to prepare: Most WNY Catholic Schools will hold review classes prior to the exam. To find out if your top schools will offer these, you can get more information at an upcoming open house or by calling the Admissions office(s) directly.

Along with any necessary studying and following specific schools’ protocol, be sure the student gets a good night’s sleep the night before the exam, eats a balanced breakfast the morning of, and arrives to the test site a few minutes early so they have time to get settled in and calm any nerves!

3. Why the test is important: The entrance exam not only decides admission to Catholic High Schools, it also helps students decide which of our 11 schools is the best fit for them! Students’ scores are sent to their top two WNY Catholic High Schools.

Along with granting acceptance, some of our WNY Catholic Schools also award scholarships based on entrance exam scores.
